Rangers were very busy in the summer window.

The Gers brought in 14 new signings, and they also saw a large number of players depart.

Derek McInnes has certainly conducted a thorough overhaul of his squad, and the Scotsman will hope that it brings about silverware.

The Scottish Premiership title will be the priority for the manager, who came so close last campaign with Hearts.

However, not all of Rangers' deadwood has been shipped out in the summer window.

With three players you may be surprised to see are still contracted with the Glasgow side.

Why Jose Cifuentes is still at Rangers

Jose Cifuentes has only played 20 games for Rangers since he joined in 2023.

It is ultimately a transfer that has failed to prove successful, and the Venezuelan would undoubtedly have been a player the Glasgow side looked to get rid of.

However, Cifuentes has been dealing with a knee injury, and setbacks in his recovery have made it so he had to remain.

The midfielder's contract is set to expire at the end of the 2026-2027 season, so unless they can negotiate an early exit with an interested party in January, they will likely fail to recoup any funds.

Cifuentes will be free to agree to a pre-contract with teams in the January window.

But for now, he remains a Rangers player.

Why Rangers still have time to get money for Clinton Nsiala

It is a bit of a surprise to see Clinton Nsiala still at Rangers.

After just 17 appearances in all competitions for the Gers since 2024, Nsiala has failed to become a regular for the G51 outfit.

The 22-year-old is still young enough that a team could take a punt on the French youth international.

And with his contract expiring in June 2028, there is still plenty of time for the Bears to secure a permanent exit for the unwanted defender.

Is there a future for Paul Nsio?

Technically, Paul Nsio is still a Rangers player, with the English midfielder spending the season out on loan at St Mirren.

The 20-year-old has made just three first-team appearances for the Gers since joining their youth ranks in 2022.

However, now, Nsio is entering the final year of his contract, and it remains to be seen if an extension will be offered or in fact accepted by the midfielder.

Either way, he is likely to be a player that fails to enter the minds of fans as he is on course to end his time at Ibrox with less than a handful of appearances.
