Where Rangers and Celtic now stand in global power rankings after one-sided Old Firm

Rangers have climbed up Opta's global power rankings after an impressive week for Derek McInnes' side.

The Gers easily saw off Celtic 3-0 at Ibrox in Sunday's Premier Sports Cup quarter-final tie.

The Old Firm rivals face off again this coming Sunday, this time with league points on the line at Celtic Park.

Rangers also beat St Mirren 1-0 in the past week thanks to a last-gasp goal from Bojan Miovski - and what a goal that was.

Those two results have helped McInnes' men climb a few places in the latest power rankings.

But there is still some way to go to catch fierce rivals Celtic.

Where do Rangers rank among best clubs in the world?

Opta's rankings are updated daily and are based on results, with the scoring all relative to the teams and divisions.

Thanks to a couple of wins, one of those against Celtic, Rangers have climbed 19 places over the past seven days.

The Light Blues are now the 240th best team in the world, which is one spot above Wrexham and one below Ligue 1 side Le Mans.

Celtic, for comparison, are 147th on the list, but their rating is only a couple of points higher than Rangers.

Another win for the Gers this weekend, then, would see that gap further slashed.

Who tops the global rankings list?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Arsenal are number one in terms of the world's best sides right now.

Paris Saint-Germain did top the list at one point, but the European champions have made a slow start to Ligue 1 and are now fifth on this list.

Bayern Munich are second, Manchester City third and Barcelona fourth.

Plenty of Premier League teams make up the top 20, standing it out as the strongest division in the world.

This is all for fun, of course, but Rangers fans want to be better than Celtic at everything.

The only way to achieve that is by continuing to win matches, especially those do-or-die Old Firm clashes, the latest of which is just days away.
