Thelo Aasgaard hit by 'bizarre' FIFA rule after Rangers exit already
Thelo Aasgaard was a strange late casualty at Rangers as the transfer window slammed shut.
The midfielder made the move to Anderlecht late in the window, with his exit coming out of nowhere at Ibrox.
Derek McInnes sang his praises after taking charge in Govan, with Aasgaard cutting short his break to return after the World Cup.
The Norway star also started the season with a bang, scoring the equaliser against Dundee United to open the Scottish Premiership.
But, he slowly found his way out of the team as McInnes found his best formula.
And despite joining Anderlecht last week, strange rules have prevented him from making his debut in Belgium.
Why hasn't Thelo Aasgaard made Anderlecht debut?
Sunday saw a big clash in Belgium, as Genk were in town.
Traditionally big clubs in the Jupiler Pro League, neither have started the season well and that was reflected in the 0-0 draw.
Weirdly, though, Aasgaard was actually suspended.
The Daily Record revealed in its print edition on Wednesday that the playmaker was serving the second game of a two-match ban from his League Cup red card against Celtic.
It's a "bizarre" rule from FIFA which meant it was carried over.
Now, Aasgaard is free to make his debut as Anderlecht take on Mechelen on Friday.
Michael Beale is having better time in Belgium
Apart from the viral video of him failing to complete a simply celebration punch, it's going great for Beale.
Seen as the mastermind behind Steven Gerrard's success at Ibrox, he couldn't replicate that when handed the keys himself.
After a failed spell at Sunderland too, he's found himself in the Jupiler League with Zulte Waregem.
After five league games, he remains unbeaten with three wins and two draws.
Ironically, they will meet Aasgaard and Anderlecht on 19 September, in what will be a real test for their credentials.
Rangers won't really care too much about that one, but will want their midfielder to perform well throughout the season.
With an initial loan move accepted for no reason, they will want that option to buy triggered at the end to hopefully secure some profit.
