Scott Brown reacts to 'devastating' Lawrence Shankland injury after what he heard at Rangers

Lawrence Shankland was forced off with what looked like a serious injury in Rangers' latest win against Motherwell.

Derek McInnes has admitted it's a similar hamstring injury that kept him out for so long at Hearts last season.

Shankland missed three months with that one, and was replaced by Ryan Naderi after only seven minutes at Ibrox.

The German went onto score the winner in a 1-0 victory that could have seen Rangers run riot with missed chances.

Given it's the best they've performed all season, there is hope that Naderi, Bojan Miovski and new signing Kevin Kelsy can hold down the fort.

Scott Brown believes it's a huge blow for Rangers though, and not just for them.

Given that McInnes expects it to be a significant blow, you can cross off the first international break with Scotland and new manager, Sebastien Pocognoli.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, Brown shared the bigger picture of just how deep this would could cut.

"You can hear McInnes before, talking about how he might be out for a little while, which is obviously devastating," he said.

"For himself and for Scotland and Rangers. He got two goals against Falkirk and was just starting to find his feet as captain.

"That's where he wanted to be."

It's a very busy end to the month with some big games before that first Scotland camp with Pocognoli.

Rangers play St Mirren on Wednesday at Ibrox before finishing the domestic month with two huge Old Firm games.

First up is a home game in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, a showdown that could cement McInnes' spot as manager.

There were huge doubts before these three wins, but the dominance against Motherwell proves it is slowly coming together.

It's time to brush St Mirren aside and then prove it in the biggest game possible.

After the cup game, the final clash before the break is a trip to Parkhead for Scottish Premiership matters.

If McInnes and the Bears want to be in the title race, they simply have to win that one, no excuses.

Having your captain available is ideal, but Shankland won't be around for that, there simply isn't a chance.
