Jose Mourinho given Rangers appointment backing in ‘big news’ claim live on air
Rangers have started the season in terrible fashion, prompting speculation which managers could take over at Ibrox.
Jose Mourinho was recently sacked as head coach of Fenerbahce, having failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Mourinho has already faced calls to become Rangers manager as Russell Martin continues to deal immense pressure at Ibrox.
And one Rangers legend has said live on air that he would love the Portuguese coach at Ibrox.

‘He’s different’ – Ally McCoist would love Jose Mourinho at Rangers
Ally McCoist was full of admiration for the legendary manager when speaking live on talkSPORT on Tuesday, and would love him at Rangers should Martin be sacked.
McCoist said: “Further down the line, if you were to ask me would I take Jose Mourinho at Ibrox? Absolutely I would!
“I would love to see him in Scottish football as I just think he’s big news.
“He’s great for the game, I think we love him, he creates interest, he creates stories, he’s different, and the more people like that, for me, the better.”
McCoist has been incredibly critical of Rangers this season, and expects much better football from the club he spent 15 years at.
Mourinho would not only improve the quality of football at Rangers, but he would also massively boost the profile of Scottish football around the world.
The 62-year-old has an unbelievable CV and has coached some of the biggest clubs in the world.
List of clubs Mourinho has coached:
- Benfica
- Porto
- Chelsea
- Inter Milan
- Real madrid
- Machester United
- Tottenham
- Roma
- Fenerbahce
Known for his fiery press conferences and his aggressive style of play, there is no doubt that Mourinho would be a cult hero at Rangers.
Russell Martin faces increased pressure as results must change
Rangers are already six points adrift of league leaders Celtic after only four games.
Rangers’ embarrassing 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge has left fans already wanting rid of Martin and his possession-based football.
Martin brought in 14 new signings in the window so it’s clear the 49ers have faith in him for now, yet that could all quickly change.
Rangers play in three different competitions in September, meaning it could be the make-or-break moment for Martin’s managerial career at Ibrox.
As long as Mourinho is available for hire, speculation around Martin’s future will continue to rumble on.
