RANGERS FC HONOURS BOARD

THE ESTABLISHMENT: 1872 TO THE MODERN ERA

Founded in 1872 by four teenage boys—the McNeil brothers, Peter Campbell, and William McBeath—Rangers grew from a meeting in Kelvingrove Park to become the most successful club in Scottish history. The early 20th century was defined by the legendary Bill Struth, who served as manager for 34 years, instilling the famous “Rangers standards” and sweeping up 18 league titles. The club famously became the first British side to reach a European final in 1961, eventually tasting continental glory in 1972 with the Cup Winners’ Cup in Barcelona.

The Graeme Souness revolution of 1986 ushered in a era of unprecedented dominance, leading to the historic “Nine-in-a-Row” league titles under Walter Smith. Despite the dark days of 2012 and the journey through the lower divisions, the club’s spirit remained unbroken. Under Steven Gerrard, the Gers returned to the summit of Scottish football in 2021, securing their record-breaking 55th title. Today, under the 2026 leadership of Danny Röhl and a new sporting structure, Rangers continue to fight for domestic supremacy and European respect, firmly established as one of the world’s most decorated footballing institutions.
