Danny’s Rangers Rohl-volution
It is fair to say there was an element of scepticism among the Rangers fanbase when Danny Rohl was appointed in October 2025. And you can understand the scepticism, given the utter abject failure of Russell Martin’s mercifully brief tenure at Ibrox. Many fancied a romantic return for Steven Gerrard, while Kevin Muscat’s was a name prominently linked with the role again. But, ultimately, it was Rohl who got the nod and, while there have been some understandable teething issues at time, the German’s charm offensive has won over a large portion of the fanbase. With Rangers really in the battle for the Scottish Premiership in the closing weeks of the 2025-26 season, Rohl’s stock will only rise higher if he can deliver title number 56 to Govan.
Danny Rohl’s managerial record
Prior to his appointment at Ibrox, Rohl had only ever had one head coach role with English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday. Rohl was a big fan-favourite among the Owls’ faithful after producing an unlikely rescue job against relegation in his first campaign at Hillsborough. He has held high-profile coaching roles with Bayern Munich, Southampton, and Germany in the past too.
Danny Rohl seeks to flesh out trophy cabinet
Rohl was part of the Bayern Munich coaching staff that won the Champions League under Hansi Flick in 2020. However, given he is still relatively new in terms of being a head coach, he is still yet to win a trophy as a manager. Rangers supporters are demanding, so he will be very aware that he needs to flesh out his CV with majour honours if he is to succeed at Ibrox.
