‘SFA are an absolute joke’, ‘Pathetic’ – Many Rangers fans hit out after latest statement
Rangers fans have hit out at the Scottish Football Association after a charge against Steven Gerrard was dropped on Monday following a hearing.
Last month, the SFA charged Gerrard for comments he made after the Gers’ 4-0 win against Dundee United.
Gerrard was unhappy that an ugly challenge on striker Alfredo Morelos went unpunished and suggested that if the players’ roles had been reversed, the Colombian would have been carded.
On Monday, Rangers released a statement after the case against Gerrard was thrown out.
It was a short, simple statement that was posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
Rangers say that they are “unsurprised” by the outcome of the hearing and “remain bemused” that the charge was made in the first place.
As expected, Rangers’ statement gathered a lot of attention from the club’s supporters on social media.
A lot of anger was aimed at the SFA for trying to disrupt Rangers’ preparations for the upcoming Old Firm derby this weekend, with one fan claiming that the organisation “hate the very existence of Rangers”.
While we’re not going to agree with any conspiracy theories against the Gers, we can understand why so many fans were baffled by the charge.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
Rangers travel to Celtic Park on Saturday and will have Gerrard in the dugout after the charge against him was dropped.
While it is unlikely it would have mattered too much – just look at what West Ham have done in the Premier League with David Moyes in self-isolation – it will still be good to have the club’s passionate manager on the sidelines.
In other Rangers news, fans of this country were blown away by one player’s performance at the weekend.
